CASology #62.

The topic this week at CASology is to use an arrow.
As I'm getting my Christmas cards done, I thought this would be a great chance for a card.
I've used a MEMORY MAZE arrow misted with forest green and a circle calendar tag.
The arrow is pointing to the 25.
On reflection, it looks a bit like a biology lesson doesn't it?

Flutter by Wednesday #253

The challenge at Flutterby Wednesday was anything goes.
This is the card I have created. The picture of the fairy was cut from one of my childhood story books.

CHA counterfeit mini kit

The kit I have chosen to Counterfeit is Bo Bunny Kraft Line
http://www.scrappypedia.com/article/inspiration/sneak_peeks/bo-bunny-kraft-line-stamps-and-double-dot-papers/

If you scroll down you will see circles with various chevrons etc in them.
This is what I'm counterfitting
I started with Kraft coloured papers.
Using plain Kraft, a chevron mask and a small square versa black ink

I made a BRILLIANT DISCOVERY!!!
A square ink pad rubbed inside a roll of D/S tape creates an exact circle.

And so I repeated it across the page in rows.

I then looked for another shape...I was thinking hearts but found my old star stamp again.

Using the same idea I had circles of tiny stars.
I also discovered that I has circle stamps with patterns in them which would do the same thing.
So now I have some moustaches cut from scraps of patterned paper and circles of grid design
And the final mini kit with braids in hessian tones, chipboard clocks and gears, a clock mask and pebbles blackboard tabs.

And there you have my complete Counterfeit Bo Bunny kit.

Sieze the birthday

The theme at Sieze the birthday again this week is Anything Goes.
There is an option to use a "topper".If that means something added on top of the basic card,I have done it.
Here's my card
Obviously it is for a male.
I added the brown star brad at the last minute to "liven up" the card.
I've used a few remaining items from my Counterfeit kit, though it is now pretty low.

Jot magazine

It is 5pm here in Sydney and this one closes at midnight! I'm cutting it fine.
The above mood board asks for peach and mint with some woodgrain.
Well, I didn't have any woodgrain ,so I used a neutral background and hope that will suffice.
As this was a wedding photo I've put 2 antique laces on this as well as some strips from Therese Collins "Tell your story".
There is also some remnants of a 7 gypsies paper I used earler ,a cut out bird and a peach coloured rose.
First here's a close up of the lace and bird
I've used the title of the kit as my title "Tell your story" is appropriate.
and my layout. Excuse the flash as it is a cloudy rainy afternoon.

Lollipop Ladies Mason jar card

This fortnight's theme is smarties
with the added criteria of punches or diecuts.
I only own 1 punch as I have difficulty with my hands.

I rather like the latest trend of mason jars in scrapbooking, so I decided to make one use using vellum and sewing. I chose spotted paper and commercially punched 21 numbers.
I drew the jar on vellum then stitched it to the paper using backstitch.
Before I sewed the lid I poured the "21" numbers into the cavity, then stitched them inside.

I'm also entering this in USE YOUR STUFF this week where the challenge is to use stitching.

CKC Challenge #2. Chalkboard technique

The newest challenge at Counterfeit Kits is to try a chalkboard technique.

I had this photo of Annabelle with a milk moustache and thought using white on black was appropriate. I also had the journaling block with moustaches on it.
I began by stamping the corner flourishes using white ink.
I constructed my layout .I also had some chalkboard tags from Pebbles Inc so the word, enjoy went on the photo.
After placing my items I doodled wavy borders around the outside first then I decided to go around the 3 main elements.
My title I drew by hand ....years of teaching prepares me for that.

Flutterby Wednesday number 252

I always enjoy doing Flutterby Wednesday's card challenges.
I seem to have a never ending supply of butterflies and fairies.
This week we are asked to use Autumn colours.
I had a chipboard autumn leaf which I inked with orange. I mounted it and my butterfly on bone card then fussy cut them to stand out.

Mojo Monday #310

I'm excited to announce that last week my card was one of the winners on Mojo Monday.
http://julenebydesign.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/mojo-monday-309.html
For that I receive a set of Verve stamps.

Now on to this week's card

I turned it on its side and produced this card.
I need more male cards and thought this one wouldn't go astray.

You show me yours challenge

This month the challenge at You show me yours was to create a layout using Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth the first.

I started with orange cardstock and smooched distress ink in black and old paper onto it.
Next I adhered a large ginger coloured flower from ZVA creative in the corner.Under it I placed 3 skeleton leaves in creams.

I found some antique lace and adhered it to 3 sides around the right hand side of the layout.
Along the bottom I've adhered a strip of fabric with sequins sewn along it .

Over all that I misted using "Sugar maple".

2 large corner chipboard flourishes were inked in gold and placed around the photo.

Below the large flower I used part of a tag made previously, which had kraft(misted),gold braid and washi tape.
This became the mat for my title.
Last ,but not least, I adhered a metallic flower and centre screw at the end of the strip of sequins.
and the final layout below.

Color Throwdown #259

Here is the colours for this week.
I had a tag already made from Kaiser Madame Boutique papers so decided to use it on this card.
The sentiment reads
May the dreams you hold dearest
be those which come true
the kindness you spread
keep returning to you
Author Unknown

I have put it on to aqua paper then mounted it on a white card.
The finishing touch is a bronze screw shaped brad

Scrap for Help with a ring pull

The challenge at Scrap for Help is to use a ring pull from a "Soda pop" can. I don't drink soft drink at all so mine is from a sardine tin!
To start I made a pocket to contain some souveniers from washi tape and a sticker of a passport. I adhered it on my layout at a jaunty angle to break up the straight lines.
The ring pull has been threaded through the strip of paper cut from the bottom of this page.
I decorated those strips with enamel dots. The fancy pants stencil lettering was mounted on pink card to stand out.
The whole thing is using more items from my Counterfeit Kit.
While I was there I have also made this card for a bon voyage using more Counterfeit Kit items.

.

Twisted Tuesday challenge

The challenge at Twisted Tuesday is to use primary colours plus buttons.
I loved this challenge as I was able to use some of my I {heart }summer range from last month's Counterfeit Kit. I chose the yellow bikini and "On Beach time".
I've used blue background papers plus a strip cut from another patterned paper as my lacy edges.
Finally,I have sewn on one yellow button.
This is the perfect card for my neighbours who are going to Hawaii soon.

Stuck on U sketches

Over at SOUS this is the sketch which I have turned 90 degrees
Originally it had the big circle on the left.
I've used some "poetic licence" with this one.
The loop on the bottom has become a chipboard piece featuring stars.
I've used black card for one of the 2 rectangles.
I did manage to get stars on there, but also wooden cameras, since this layout is all about smiling for the camera in a group shot.
The 2 blobs of white paint were blown through a straw to spread them out.
It was an interesting challenge since the original camera paper ("Amy Tan-Padma's pattern") was very "busy".I wanted it to use it because the subject was ideal.

Seize the birthday

Another week goes by and with 5 family & friends birthdays in September I'm being kept busy.
This one is for a dear friend.
I've used Buzz and Bloom chipboard for the cupcake(inked in yellow and orange) and the sentiment inked with distress ink black.Hope you like it!

Sunday 8 September 2013

Nurse Michelle at White with one.

On White with one this month  the colour is Pistachio.(Like a dark lime green)
I had this Ruby Rock-it "The summerhouse" paper which was the perfect colour!

I started with white paint and a chevron mask.
After that dried, I created a patchwork mat from scraps of green.
I mounted my photo of Michelle who I have met twice at 2 different retreats.
We seem to get on really well and I've christened her Nurse Michelle, mainly because she IS a nurse.
Next I put ribbons horizontally across the layout then sewed buttons.
After adding my journaling block, my title and a colourful swirl, it is complete.

Home made polaroid frames with transport theme.CKC tutorial.

This was one of the pictures for the add on embellishments for September's Counterfeit Kit.
I've been making my own using embellishments I already had and stamps featuring transport.

First I divided a 30x30 cm paper into 10cm squares.
This gives you 9 squares.
Then I used a ruler and craft knife to carefully cut "windows " in the squares.
I've used aeroplanes, cars, rockets and "explore"
Then I turned to my transport themed stamps
I know the Eiffel Tower isn't transport but I have lots of travel pictures of Paris, so I included it.

The close up made me realize that I should have used stayz-on ink and embossed the stamps.
Oh well, scrapping is a learning curve after all! I am sure I will still use these on my layouts.
I've used one on the Colour me scrappy layout already.

So off you go and try these out. They are all the rage in the scrapping world.

Jingle belles card challenge

This is the sketch on Jingle Belles this week.
I've gone with 2 bright colourful red papers.
One with festive lights and one with words.
Over that I've put my "Seasons Greetings" sentiment and a wreath tied with a red bow.
In fact, I made 4 Christmas cards last night whilst watching the election results.
Here they are.

CSI #88.

Colours all there.
Evidence-floral paper, ledger, clock, map, green frame.
Testimony-used inspirational words.
This was one of the first classes I taught. It was sink or swim with this lot, hence the quote/title.
I have used embellishments that represent all the disciplines or subjects eg flowers for science, grid for maths, globe for geography, numbers & clock for arithmetic, alphabet across the top for reading etc. These kids are all 46 now!! EEK.

Stuck?!

The sketch at stuck looks like this
I had this "Little Yellow Bicycle" Road sign paper and decided to use old alphas as a background.
I gathered them where the circle would be in the sketch. I've them misted over them with "sugar maple".
Photos were placed over this with washi tape threaded underneath and under the photos.
I've added a hot air balloon stamp and wooden cameras plus an Amy Tan pleated flower that says explore.
My journaling tag features an aeroplane sticker as it is a travel layout.
For the purpose of scanning I have backed it with patterned paper, but this was only to hold it in place.

Flutterby Wednesdays #251

The birthday challenge is anything goes.
It is Flutterby Wednesday's 2nd birthday and I've just completed a blog hop there.
http://flutterbywednesdays.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/flutter-by-wednesday-251.html
is the link if you want to look.
This week I've used a WOW chipboard fairy, which is put through the Cuttlebug then inked in gold.
One layer of the background paper is also embossed.
I've used tomato and gold/bones for an interesting combination.

Mojo Monday 309

Again using 7 Gypsies papers etc from my Counterfeit Kit, I have made a card.
The scraps I had just fitted in beautifully with this design.
I started with coral pink card.
Then the background was 2 tone grey stripes.2 other floral papers are added plus a scalloped frame with a doiley underneath it.
Between these layers was a pink velvet ribbon.
Finally, I've added a pink heart.
