A gem of a challenge

Over at A Gem of a challenge the theme is Weather (choose any season).
My card is a get well card for all those winter ills that strike people with this cold snap.
I've focussed on rain.
The wood veneer umbrella is from Jennifer Grace "Happy Scatters".
I made the white clouds myself from felt and left the black outline as it shows them better.

This baby card is for A gem of a challenge #169.I've used lace flowers on here.

This thank you card is for Die cutting Divas. The stars and letters are diecuts.

Stuck?! sketches and Blog hop-Challenge #1 at CKC.

While at a retreat last weekend I used the current Stuck sketch and made this layout.

I've used only one photo instead of 2, as it is the only photo I have from this day.
I've used lots of dotty scraps that I have, plus a paper from Simple Stories and another from Kaisercraft.
This layout features a large chipboard capital K. I've had it for about 10 years at least.
Our CKC #1 is to use K or Q as a feature.

Warren and I visited the Snowy Mountains in summer and took this photo of "Mt Kozzie" (As we call it here in Australia). It is Australia's highest mountain! That's it between our heads, blink and you'll miss it.
After being in Canada, it is a small fry compared to other mountains.

Thanks for stopping by and now you should hop over to Elaine
The full blog hop list will be published on the link-to-the-CKCB so if you get lost along the way, head over there to find your way back onto the hop.
Don't forget to leave me a comment to let me know you were here and happy hopping!"

Color throwdown #393

Gosh, color throwdown are almost up to 400. I've done quite a few of their challenges.
This one spoke to me as I have quite a few strips of pink and grey.
Here's what I produced. It is different, but I like it!

Allsorts challenge & the craft barn challenge

At Allsorts challenge the theme is Vintage.
I went with vintage sewing.
The background paper is Kaisercraft Base Coat and the cut out lady is from Graphic 45.
I added a tape measure strip from another Kaisercraft paper down the side and my sentiment is from October afternoon.
Really like how this card turned out!

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

And at the CRAFT BARN CHALLENGE it is the letter A

While I had the above papers out I made another card..........

There are dressmakers and tailors in my family going back several generations.
I'm using this for a note to my cousin.

In the Pink and Shopping our stash challenges

The current challenge at In the Pink is "Happy Anything".
I've made my card just say Happy Day, then it can be used for a birthday or any other celebration.
There's a touch of red but it is mainly pink.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

At Shopping our Stash this week they want ocean, beach, nautical themes.
I've made a Bon Voyage card using those cut off strips from Scrapbooking paper.
My hairdresser is about to go on a long cruise, so I thought I'd send her a card.

Scrap Much? Sketchy Friday

I followed Tina to Scrap Much? and found this sketch

It is just calling out for those strips that are cut off scrapbooking papers.
I have a long basket full.

I have found orange and purple to match the colours in the photos, but alas no red.
I misted the background with some red instead.
I decided to go with colours from the 1970s.
The blackboard sticker, spotted ribbon and 18th draw your eye to the background.

Cheerful sketch challenge

I discovered a new card challenge blog named Cheerful sketches challenge and this is the current sketch.

This meant I can use some offcuts from my Counterfeit Kit.
I've made a birthday card for a 12 year old girl.

There's lots of colour there!

Mojo Monday #447

Here's the latest sketch at Mojo Monday

I've used the tan offcuts from the last 2 layouts as part of my background.
There is also some small papers and a trimmed bingo card from my kit.

At Li'l red wagon the challenge is "Let's hear it for the boys" with Father's Day in mind.
I have made a simple tag saying MR. and added a chipboard tree and a button.
Perhaps someone will send it to a gardener man.
And at Cardz4guyz the theme is Dig it so this works for that too.

Sketch 'n'scrap Flashback Friday

After reorganising and sorting my scrapbooking layouts I realised I still had more space in my RED CENTRE album.
One of the places I visited near ULURU was Kata Tjuta. I actually hiked through the centre.
If you look at this site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kata_Tjuta you can read more.

The only paper I have left now from GONE DOTTY, my May Counterfeit Kit, is this one from 7gypsies.I have 2 sheets.
I paid too much to waste it, so searched around for an appropriate challenge.

Sketch 'n'scrap are celebrating 4 years and this sketch is for Flashback Friday

I've used 2 landscape photos instead of 3 portrait ones, but otherwise it follows the sketch.
I've used a few brads and twine on this for extra interest.
************************************
Here is the last sheet.  I have created a layout about my trip on the Ghan railway.

Now all that is left in my kit are paper offcuts plus heaps of embellishments.
Cards coming up!

Saturday 14 May 2016

TIOT and Ruby's Rainbow.

At Ruby's Rainbow they want us to use a transparency or a transparent element.
I've used a sheet of dotted swirls on transparency over the top of a patterned card.
My sentiment is xx or 2 kisses.

Next at Tuesday Taggers they ask for spots dots and splashes.
I used both black and white texture paste through a dotted mask to create this textured tag.
It will be used on a layout somewhere. I added a gold arrow and a tab that co-ordinated.

CKC Challenge #2 sketch challenge

Our challenge was to use one of two Page Maps sketches and create a layout.
This was not difficult for me as I love doing sketches.
I've chosen 3 small passport size photos of Erica when she was about 9.
She has a beautiful smile.
There is a bit of family symbolism in this. Her favourite colour was pink and she wanted to be a fairy. The wand on the tag is a nod to that.

Retro sketches #214 and Paper Craft crew

I had 2 smaller squares of paper in this month's kit which I want to use up.
The retro sketch above was too special to not do.
I've used a doiley plus flower combo for the circle and the biggest wood veneer butterfly I own.
The top strip is washi tape and the sentiment is Heidi Swapp.
 Lastly I added some sequins.

I've just visited Elaine (Child kid) who has found me another sketch challenge PCCC #193

Again I used the same washi tape plus a painted Bazzil chip and sentiment from my kit.
I added 4 buttons where the dots are.

PDE Linky party

At PDE Linky party it is anything goes.
Wrapped around my mothers day gift was some cute washi tape featuring woodland creatures.
In my embellishment drawer I had some wood veneer foxes from last years Christmas sales.
I've used both and made 2 identical cards.
These will sell well because of the cute fox. Into the sale box they go.

Crazy 4 challenges

At Crazy for Challenges #334 we are asked to use emerald green.
I just happened to have emerald washi tape so used it on this card.
Hope you like it!

4 Card challenges

The challenge at Tuesday Taggers is to use a vintage photo.
I accidentally printed more than one of this for scrapbooking so I have used it on a card.

Next is a card for crafty ribbons. We are asked to use geometric shapes and ribbon.
It is obviously a baby card but could also be for a small child.

My next is for Feeling sketchy
Here is the sketch then my card.

My sentiment is in a different place because I had no room at the bottom of the card.

Lastly for Mojo Monday

Native American layout using ribbon loops

At the scrapbooking marathon I attended Friday and Saturday I had them all amazed with this layout.
I just let my creative juices flow and used ribbon in large loops to add detail.
I've also used some large metallic elements as a feature.

The gold word "adventure" and the arrow are Heidi Swapp.
The arrow is a nod to the native Americans' former way of life.(Think cowboys and Indians)
.
I've probably offended half the American natives by using Cheetah print alphas on this layout, but they add colour and match the dresses that the ladies in the photo are wearing.

I'm really pleased with this layout, firstly because I used wide ribbon, secondly because this was my forged paper and thirdly for using up those metals. Hope you like it!
I'm linking this up to Lil Red Wagon where the challenge is anything but a card.

Mystical May challenge

This layout is for Mystical scrapbooking MAY challenge, which is to use grey.
I used strips of grey to create steps on my layout.
It features 2 photos my daughter took in Washington of the Smithsonian and the White House.
Apart from the grey I kept it simple, using a  Heidi Swapp  "Life is good" gold sticker as well as a star. There is also a small amount of washi and some blue enamel dots.

Whimsical Musings #211

My next layout is for Whimsical Musings #211 Inspired by sunshine.

I misted through a sunray mask yellow on yellow.
Next I used a gold doiley which shines.
The Flutterby flairs are about sunshine too and the transparency tag, gold camera and orange brad add to the effect as well.
The photo is of the iconic flat iron building in NEW YORK.
